The Legend Behind the Name
Davy Pearl
Davy Pearl was a grizzly five-foot-five professional boxing referee who walked amongst giants — Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler, and even Mike Tyson. His dive bar, Davy's Locker, was world famous for cold drinks, grilled snacks, spicy "Davy's Sauce," and discounted tickets to UNLV sporting events and strip boxing matches throughout Southern Nevada.
After his death, the bar on Desert Inn was closed and destroyed by remodel — before Davy's iconic neon sign was dug out of the trash by current owner Derek Stonebarger, who had it restored in its current "rat rod" style.
